Secret Histories: Screening Irish History is a season of Irish films screening at the famous Filmhouse home of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The season explores some of the dark and troubling aspects of Irish life and history. A Terrible Beauty is the final film in the series which is run in association with the Edinburgh School of History,Classics and Archeology.

A Terrible Beauty/Áille an Uafáis ... a 93 minute feature docudrama is set during the Irish Rebellion of 1916. It is centered on two linked events during that Easter week, the battles of Mount Street and North King Street, culminating in the massacre of fifteen innocent young men and boys.
