Stephen Rooke, Director of Waterways- The Royal Canal was presented with the 2012 IFTA Award for Best Documentary Series in the Television Categories at the Irish Film and Television Gala Awards Ceremony held at the Convention Centre Dublin on Saturday 11th of February 2012. It was also a great night for Peter Robertson DOP of the series who picked up the 2012 IFTA Award for best Director of Photography Television on the Waterways series in the Craft and Technical Categories(Television). A big thank you to all the Tile team and crew.

The first of six episodes of our new production: "Waterways - The Royal Canal" was aired on Sunday the 2nd October 2011 on RTE 1. In episode one, Dick Warner meets the crew of ‘Rambler’ – the 70ft barge he will travel the Royal Canal on. He and the crew travel through the Liffey Sea Lock up through Sheriff Street and on the banks of the Royal Canal at Mountjoy Prison, Dick meets Ulick O’Connor. Ulick vividly recounts Brendan Behan’s notorious antics and humorous escapades. In Glasnevin cemetery Dick pays his respects to one of Ireland’s greatest heroes Michael Collins and his darling fiancée Kitty Kiernan. His friend Ken Whelan takes him fly fishing in Finglas and after a long days’ travelling, he and the Rambler ...
