EP.1 Aerial Greece: The Great Archipelago
The Cyclades Islands of Greece known as the Great Archipelago, are a ring of over 200 islands filled with extraordinary history and ancient myth. Each island has its own unique story, from the tourist hotspots of Mykonos and Santoríni, to the hidden grandeur of Náxos and Amorgós. This first episode of “Aerial Greece” explores the stories of nine of these magnificent and enthralling islands.
EP.2 Aerial Greece: The South
Southern Greece, the home of an ancient civilisation that influenced everything from the languages of Europe to philosophy, politics, art, architecture and even sport. This is a land of Spartan warriors, mythical legends and great gods, where the ancient and modern are interwoven like nowhere else. This second episode of “Aerial Greece” explores the birthplace of the Western World as we know it today.
EP.3 Aerial Greece: Crete & The Eastern Islands
At the southern and eastern fringes of the Aegean Sea lie some of Greece’s largest islands. These places seem remote today, but once they stood at the centre of human innovation. Crete, Samos, Chios, Rhodes and the Dodecanese, many of the values of Greek and western civilization were first born and nurtured here. This third episode of “Aerial Greece” explores the distinct culture and unique stories of these islands.
EP.4 Aerial Greece: The North
Bounded by the rugged fastness of the Pindus Mountains and the blue expanse of the Aegean, this is a land of mystery. A place where cities rise phoenix-like from the ashes of fire and where the ghosts of the dead haunt the landscape. It’s a place where the old and the new live side by side. Where Saint Paul had to flee from persecution and where the philosopher Aristotle taught his most famous pupil, Alexander the Great. This final episode of “Aerial Greece” explores one of Greece’s lesser-known, but most fascinating regions – the North.
